A former Heps star, Muhammad Halim of Cornell, took fourth in the triple jump at the U.S. Track & Field Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa, on Friday with a best leap of 54-2 3/4. The event was won by Kenta Bell, whose best jump measured 55-10 1/4.

A pair of Ivy Leaguers qualified on to finals on Friday. Princeton rising junior Donn Cabral, who was second in the steeplechase at the NCAAs, was the sixth-fastest qualifier in that event, turning in an 8:43.75 in the first round. The final will take place on Sunday.

Meanwhile former Cornell standout Morgan Uceny moved through in her specialty, the 800-meter run, with a time of 2:00.75. Her final will also be contested on Sunday.

Two Columbia Lions just missed moving on as Liam Boylan-Pett’s 3:41.06 time in the 1,500-meter run was less than a half-second from advancement and junior Sharay Hale was close to her personal best with a time of 52.83.

Two other Hepsters ran in the finals of the 5,000-meter run as former Lion Delilah DiCrescenzo was ninth (16:06.98) among the women and Dartmouth alum Ben True taking 13th (14:21.20) in the men’s race.

The Nationals will continue throughout the weekend.
