The meet director of the Prefontaine Classic, Tom Jordan, is already on record suggesting that former Dartmouth Coach Vin Lananna succeed Doug Logan as the new executive director of USA Track & Field. Logan got the axe yesterday after just two years on the job.

“They need to find somebody who has been very successful, and somebody who is very familiar with the sport of track and field,” Jordan told Curtis Anderson of the Eugene (Ore.) Register-Guard. “Somebody with a vision. Honestly, if I weren’t selfish and wanted him to stay here, I think Vin Lananna would be the perfect candidate.”

While at Dartmouth, Lananna’s men’s cross country teams won a record eight straight Heps titles from 1984 to 1991.
