It would be highly unlikely that the No. 18 Tigers could repeat their 1-2-3-4-5 finish from a year ago … After all, no team, men or women, had done it before … But then again Coach Peter Farrell must at least like his chances for the top three spots … That’s because he has a trio of All-Americans in junior Alex Banfich [Plymouth, Ind.] and seniors Ashley Higginson [Colts Neck, N.J.] and Sarah Cummings [Newport Beach, Calif.] … “They’ve been leading us all season, said Farrell. “Sarah broke a venerable record on the Yale Golf Course when she won HYP. The old record belonged to Sarah Smith, a member of those great Yale teams in the eighties. Alex finished second at Pre Nats with a very impressive 20:08. Ashley chimed in with an eighth place finish.” … Banfich has positioned herself to be the League’s top threat with her showing at Pre-Nats and her fourth-place finish at the Notre Dame Invitational … Farrell expects a strong group of sophomores led by Mel Newbery [London, England] to fill out the team’s top five.
