Princeton junior Alex Banfich has won the 2010 individual Heps Cross Country Championship in 16:58.89, leading her Tigers to their fifth straight League title. Princeton had five runners among the first 11 finishers as Banfich finished 20 seconds ahead of Columbia sophomore Caroline McDonough and senior Jackie Drouin in second and third. Princeton senior Ashley Higginson was fourth. Brown freshman Margaret Connolly rounded out the first five across the line.

Banfich’s margin of victory is the second-largest at Heps in the last 20 years. Only former teammate Liz Costello’s 35-second demolition of the field in 2008 was greater.
