The NCAA Cross Country Championships begin on Saturday and the Yale Bulldogs are hosting the Northeast regional for the first time in 19 years at Hammonasset State Park in Madison, Conn. The course has not been used for the purpose before, so all 38 teams will be on equal footing.
The women’s 6k race will begin at noon, followed by the men’s 10k at 1:15 pm. The Mid-Atlantic regionals, held at Penn State and featuring Penn and Princeton, will have the same time schedule. The other six Ivy teams will compete in Madison
The top two teams from each regional and the first four runners not from those automatic advancing teams will earn spots at the NCAA Championship, which will be held in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 22. Following the regionals, an additional 13 at-large teams and other individuals will be selected to run in the Championship. The NCAA will post the final qualifiers list on its website by 7 pm on Sunday.
