2009 Men’s Weight Throw
Joel Karacozoff (Princeton), Bob Belden (Cornell), Erik Roneker (Cornell), Alex Pessala (Princeton), Craig Pearce (Princeton), David Irving (Dartmouth). Princeton senior Alex Pessala came closer to knocking off a 30-year-old record than anyone else has as he won the weight throw with a mark of 69-1 1/2. That is the second-best mark all-time at Heps, behind Dartmouth’s Ed Kania, who tossed the 35-pound implement 70-5 in 1979. It was also the third win in Pessala’s career, which matches Navy’s Ted Bregar and ends one behind Josh McCaughey, who won four titles from 2001-04 for his Tigers.
